The two rival moro groups come together for federalism government. The two major rebel group leaders met with President-elect Rodrigo Duterte on Friday and pledges support for his campaign on federalism.

Abdul Khayr Alonto, chairs, lead a faction of the Moro National Liberation Front(MNLF), said that the group accepts Duterte's plan to federalism.

“The centralized form of government is a dismal failure, that is why there  is war in Mindanao,” Alonto told reporters after emerging from the meeting that began after 9 p.m. at Hotel Elena here.
“The president-elect has our commitment and our support, not just in  pronouncements but in action as well, Alonto added.

On the other hand, Ghadzali Jaafar, vice chair for political affairs of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front(MILF), said that the group would likely supports Dutertes agenda to federal government. However, the vice chair also wants the President to push the Bangsamoro  Basic Law or BBL, like he promised during the election.

“We believe that we can help more significantly if the BBL will be passed ahead of the change to a federal system,”Jaafar said.

The BBL’s passage and the creation of a Bangsamoro government “may even help by becoming an exhibit of the federalism campaign,” he added.

Because the BBL effectively addresses the peculiarities unique to the Bangsamoro that  are not necessarily found in other prospective federal states.”

Jaafar also describe the meeting, though its the first time to meet the president, claim to be very productive.

In addition, Jaafar, "we're glad that the new government had open its door for his group and its cause". To there part, promises to work with unity along the government, Jaafar said.

Still, the two rebel groups needs to be reconciled, MILF is a breakaway faction from MNLF, and have separated peace agreements with the later government.
